Case studies

All projects are anonymized by industry and country, and some of them date from my time as a Solution Consultant at Snow Software and Flexera. In every case, the work described is work I did myself. I keep the anonymization on purpose. If I talk about your project one day, you will get the same discretion.

A German financial services client. A data source the standard connector could not reach.

Situation

The client needed mobile devices from its endpoint management system in its ITAM platform. The vendor’s standard connector attaches to that system but does not import mobile devices. An internal audit deadline was fixed and could not move.

Approach

I built a feasibility proof in my own test environment first. Then: Microsoft Graph API queries with OAuth2, data transformation, import through a custom inventory connector with beacon deployment. I evaluated the two import options against eight weighted criteria and documented the recommendation. When one original reason later turned out to be wrong, I marked it as outdated, corrected it, and re-checked the decision.

Result

The audit deadline was met. The connector runs in production. The audit function was satisfied with the outcome.

A Swiss insurance company. An evaluation run against predefined success criteria.

Situation

The client wanted to understand exactly how its use cases would work on a new SaaS platform before committing.

Approach

I clarified the preconditions first: success criteria, metrics, and scope. Every use case was documented in a tracker with its status visible throughout. New, complex use cases came up during the evaluation and were solved on the spot. I ran the engagement with the client directly and supported the architecture documentation together with the client’s enterprise architecture team.

Result

Every use case was demonstrated and explained to the client’s satisfaction, in the production environment rather than a demo setup. The evaluation gave the client a fact base for its decision instead of vendor claims.

A German automotive supplier. A pilot designed so go-live could follow directly.

Situation

The client wanted to introduce a SAM tool quickly. Procurement required an evaluation phase focused on data quality and system performance.

Approach

I answered a comprehensive requirements catalog, then proposed a pilot instead of a throwaway test installation, so production could start straight after the test phase. I ran a direct data quality comparison between the inventory agent and the existing endpoint management solution, with defined criteria. I kept the scope on track when the client kept wanting to test more, and mediated between Oracle database experts on both sides until a fix resolved a database error.

Result

A fact-based decision foundation and an evaluation process that led directly into productive operation.

A German digital investment platform. ITAM as part of an ISO 27001 certification.

Situation

The platform needed inventory processes for computers and SaaS applications to support its planned certification.

Approach

Planning and implementation of an ITAM SaaS solution together with the internal business units: inventory processes, automatic compliance calculations, asset reporting for all organizational units.

Result

Working inventory and reporting processes, measured in the production environment.

Training delivery for international teams.

Situation

Since going independent in November 2025, I deliver official Flexera trainings as a certified trainer within Flexera’s training programme.

Approach and result

ITAM administrator trainings for an international audio technology manufacturer and a North American industrial company. An IT Visibility Operations and Administration training for a US bank. All sessions in English. The teams run their platforms themselves. That is the point of a good training.
